Yakov Leontyevich Ovodov (November 5, 1916 - September 9, 1999) - Assistant Commander of the 133rd Fighter Aviation Baranovichi Red Banner Regiment in the Air Rifle Service of the 234th Fighter Aviation Division of the 6th Fighter Aviation Corps of the 16th Air Army of the 1st Belorussian Front , Hero of the Soviet Union.
From February 1942 until the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War, fought on the Crimean, Kalinin, Central and 1st Belorussian fronts. He took part in the defense and liberation of the Crimea, in battles to eliminate the enemy's Rzhev bridgehead, the Battle of Kursk, the liberation of Belarus, Poland, defeating the enemy in Germany. For military distinctions and impeccable service in the Soviet Army, he was awarded three Orders of the Red Banner (1942, 1944-2), Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree (1943), Red Star (1953), medals "For the capture of Berlin", "For the liberation of Warsaw "and four other medals.
The title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal to Yakov Leontyevich Ovodov was awarded on May 15, 1946 for 224 sorties and 18 personally shot down enemy planes.
