    Description

Original poster. Seven horrible b&w images of corpses of adults and children and of demolished buildings.
The sarcastic headline reads: L’œuvre des défenseurs de la religion et de la civilization (The work of the defenders of religion and civilization).
The writing under the photos is: Le GQG factieux de Salamanque a déclaré le lendemain dans son communiqué officiel: « Nous avons bombardé hier les centres directifs et les postes de commandement de Barcelone » (
The factious GHQ of Salamanca declared the following day in its official statement: "We bombed yesterday the directive centers and the command posts of Barcelona").
Throughout the Civil War, the city and province of Barcelona was one of the strongholds of Republican Spain. Early in 1938, Barcelona was subjected to a series of air raids.
The January bombings were followed by a series of airstrikes led by Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany which took place from 16 to 18 March 1938. Up to 1,300 people were killed and at least 2,000 were wounded.
