truly rare, early
Curta Type I mechanical calculator with serial No 7080, one of the handful you'll ever see for sale with an extremely low sub 8000 serial No.
According to the website vcalc.net, this is a 1949 model.
This Curta calculator is an exceptional piece, because it has all the features of the very rare early design like
rounded pin slider knobs (instead of the rectangular ones of the later design) including ultra rare plastic mushroom caps
the name CURTA written (with square letter A between signs of quotation) plus the inscription SYSTEM CURT HERZSTARK underneath
the early design of baseplate with circular inscription "Made in Liechtenstein by Contina AG Mauren"
the original black oxide baseplate screws
its original metal carrying case has right-hand thread (it opens counterclockwise); normal Curta carrying cases, both metal and plastic, have left-hand threads (they open clockwise)

It operates correctly in every way even with negative crank turns, the ten-carrying mechanism works correctly in every position of the carriage. I performed the testing procedures outlined on the curta.org website and everything is how it is expected.
As can be seen in the photographs, this fine instrument has been well kept and it's showing only very little signs of use. It appears to have been barely used.
This Curta calculator comes complete with its rare metal can with right-hand thread and its very rare original operating manual in English language. This manual is a large double-sided fold-out 20-page printing.
