    Description

SOLD BY THE PAIR. PRICE QUOTED IS PER PAIR OF HINGES.
For sale are pairs of copper flashed (japanned) half-surface flush mount ornamental cabinet hinges.  These hinges are being sold by the pair (2 individual hinges) along with their original screws.  Price quoted is per pair of hinges.  The hinges measure 1 7/8" tall x approximately 2 1/2" wide when opened.  They have a 1/16" bevel.   The door wing is 1 7/8" wide and the jamb wing is 1 1/16" wide.  These hinges were part of a large estate purchase of cabinet hardware, which included mostly Stanley and Lawrence Brothers (LB) hardware.  I know these are not Stanley hinges, which are all stamped, and the hinges do not appear in LB catalogs Volumes 19 or 20, which are from the late 1930s to early 1940s.  Although boxed and wrapped, there was no lid on the box to aid in identifying these hinges, therefore the manufacturer is being listed as "Unknown."  They appear to be in the same age range as the Stanley and LB hinges, which ranged from the early 1920s through mid-1940s.
Although wrapped in oil paper by pairs with screws, these hinges appeared to have not have survived long-term storage without acquiring some additional patina.  There are small black marks of various shapes and sizes on the hinges (see photographs).  These marks generally represent a loss of finish, possibly from a deterioration of the lacquer used to flash the copper.  There are minute scratches on some of the hinges, likely from being jostled from one storage are to another, a likely event given their 70-80 year life span.  The finish appears flatter, or duller, than it may have looked when the hinges were new.   These hinges have suffered little, if any, actual loss of finish beyond the black marks mentioned earlier.  The hinges open and close easily, and are ready for use.
Price quoted of .00 is for one pair (2 individual hinges) and original screws.  The
ruler and the Lawrence Brothers boxes are not included.
Note:  If you need more of these hinges for a project, six additional hinges of this same type and copper flashed finish, but suffering a greater lose of finish at the tips, are being sold as one lot in another listing.
