Description

Selling a helmet I inherited about 20 years ago from a family member (he served as a US Navy NATO liaison in Europe in the 1950s - 1960s). At the time I was told this was from the Spanish Civil War and assume it was from Nationalists (or Falange) forces.  It is appears of German
Stahlhelm
design, but I am not an expert and do not if it was manufactured in Germany and transported to Spain, or of Spanish origin. The helmet is inscribed with "No 61 3 CIA" in white paint and, "VAVARARO" and "PUERTO" (harbor?) in pencil on the leather liner.
The helmet leather liner is pretty good shape for its age, however, the chin strap is frail and has tears.  The helmet is painted in a green-ish grey color had has 3 impact dents in it. There is a small amount of rust visible in the left side pass-through hole.
This is original and not a reproduction.  The black stands in one of the photos is not included.
