Fantastic Antique wooden acrobat tumbler Germany?

Up for sale is this fantastic wooden acrobat that can tumble!  I have had him for years because I was not sure how old he was or his country of origin.  Then I saw this picture in the Bee (antiques newspaper) and found that he was probably made in Germany and probably dates to the mid 1800's.  The man is all handmade and pegged together.  He has a series of strings that aid in his tumbling.  The original toy came with a box that could be set up as steps.  When positioned correctly on top the figurine does back flips down the steps.  This figurine comes without the box.  I have also noticed that one leg has been repaired and that one string is loose.  The figurine measures 4 3/4" tall.  As you can see from the copy of the artical the complete set, fiurine and box, sold for 1800.00.  Please see the pictures for condition.
