Issued with 23 tipped in 9.5 x 7 black and white photos of images of soldiers, command staff, movements and maps of units that fought in the division during WWII. Text in Russian. Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. 32th Smolensk Red Banner Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov Rifle Division. In December 1941, in accordance with the order of the Siberian Military District, in the city of Slavgorod, Altai Territory, the formation of the 32th Infantry Division began from the conscripts of the regions of this region. Colonel A.I. was appointed commander of the division. Golovanov, Chief of Staff Colonel - I.T. Yukhnovets. The formation of the division was completed in April 1942, and already in August it received its baptism of fire on the Western Front. In the future, the division took part in the battles as part of the 2nd Baltic, 1st Belorussian fronts. During the period of hostilities, the 32th Rifle Division liberated the cities of Smolensk, Karmanovo, Dorogobuzh, Kholm, and others. Its fighters crossed the Dnieper, Western Bug, and Vistula rivers. In September 1943, by order of the Supreme Commander for the capture of the city of Smolensk, the division was awarded the name "Smolensk". In July 1944, the 32th Infantry Division was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for crossing the Western Bug River and capturing the city of Kholm.
